Covenant House Tour by Rotary Club: Rotarian Sallie Godfrey arranged for our Club visit and tour of the Covenant House in Atlantic City on Wednesday, Aug. 13th. Members toured the facility and received a staff briefing. (See Club photo)
District Grants: Our District currently has 13 Clubs that have applied for grants this year. This is down from a total of 40 applications last year. Our OCUT Rotary Club is urged to review local community impact project ideas and enter a request for Rotary District 7505 funding support.
UT Fall Fest, Sunday, Oct 5th, 2025, Amanda’s Field: Our Club should consider tabling at this annual event, since most of our current membership is actually in the Township of Upper. Our Club’s “Cool to be Kind” table, arranged by Rotarian Randi Shecek, at the Ocean City National Night Out at the OC High School Foodball field on Aug. 5th was a tremendous success
UT Rotary Citizen of the Year – Seeking Nominations: Our OCUT Rotary Club recognizes a Rotary Upper Twp. Citizen of the Year each November as part of the municipality Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony at Township Hall. Club members are urged to submit nominations to President Shiek as soon as possible so that our Club can select a candidate for this year.
OC Library Book Sale: Volunteers needed for setting up on Thursday, Aug 14th and take down Saturday afternoon, Aug. 16. Members can just show up and help for an hour or so. Talk with Rotarian Ralph Cooper for details / times.
Future Club program topics: CMC Family Promise; Municipal Alliance Committee for Upper Twp. and Ocean City; Press of AC Editor; others tbd.
Rotary Club Monthly Birthdays: The list of member birthdays is almost complete. Birthday acknowledgments will be announced at the first Club meeting each month. Club member birthdays for August 2025: Ken Thorpe Aug. 02; Brian McPeak Aug. 11; Sue Conrad Aug. 17; Ralph Cooper Aug. 19; Melissa Johnson Aug. 26; and Ted Lands Aug. 27.
Phillies Strike Out Hunger Baseball Game Trip: Rotarian Ted Lands has completed the plans for our Club’s annual field trip to the Phillies on Monday, Aug. 18th. Details and tickets for those attending have been emailed.
