Rotary Helps Sustain Lions Eyeglass Recycle Campaign
The Ocean City - Upper Township (OCUT) Rotary Club has announced the continuation of a campaign to collect eyeglasses in both Ocean City and Upper Twp. in conjunction with the Lions Eyeglass Recycling program.
The large yellow and blue Lions collection boxes are located at the indoor entrance to the Ocean City Senior Center at 18th Street and in the parking lot of the 34th St. CVS Pharmacy. In addition, there is a collection box in the lobby of OceanFirst Bank at 10th and Asbury.
For Upper Township, the OCUT Rotary has placed collection boxes for recycling eyeglasses at Township Hall in Petersburg and the Schiavo Library in Strathmere.
The Rotary Club has been supporting Duane Sonneborn’s Lions Eyeglass collection process in Ocean City since 2021. In the recent 60-day period more than 100 eyeglasses have been collected.  All types of used eyeglasses and sunglasses, prescription and nonprescription, for children and adults are accepted, including exceptionally strong or weak prescriptions.
Reading glasses are also useful for those who perform close-up tasks while at work. Sunglasses are needed for people living near the equator, especially those with cataracts.
The Rotary Club delivers all Ocean City and Upper Twp. eyeglass collections to the nearby Lions Blind Center in Absecon. > https://lionsblindcenter.org
